Setting the stage if you're interested with ACC Championships next week and NCAA Championships in March.

Women ranked #1 and looking good to repeat. Men still on their way up. Anything can happen of course. Just see Mikaela Shiffrin skiing out of her two best Olympic events this week for evidence of that...

Anyway, here are a few articles:

Kate Douglass (Olympic bronze medalist) just swam the 3rd-fastest 200 Breaststroke ever (2nd-fastest swimmer) in a TIME TRIAL in an event she rarely actually swims.

Gretchen Walsh (younger sister of Alex Walsh - Olympic silver medalist) swam what is believed to be the fastest 50-yard Backstroke in American history (it's not officially recorded), boding well for starting to come into her own after adjusting to college.

Here's a great interview with Gretchen today - https://swimswam.com/what-is-the-ceiling-for-uvas-gretchen-walsh-at-ncaa-championships/

UVA women also just got the #2 recruit in the nation to pair with #4 (and #20) so far - https://swimswam.com/butterflyer-and-2-ranked-tess-howley-commits-to-uva-for-2023/
