Virginia bounces back to take game two from BC 4 - 3

After yesterday's poor offensive performance and a shaky start today, the Hoos scored in the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Coady started on the mound for Virginia, and the first five batters for BC reached base to take a 2-0 lead. In the second inning hits by Ference, Whalen, and Becker tied the score at 2. BC scored a run in the third to again take the lead. There was no more scoring until the 6th when Virginia tallied another run to knot the score at 3. There was no more scoring until Virginia scored in the ninth.
After Coady pitched the first 4 innings, he was relieved by Osinski, who pitched shut outs in the fifth and sixth innings. He was replaced on the mound by Woolfolk. He retired all three batters in seventh but loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter in the eighth innings with one out. Hungate got the next two batters out, the second of which was a diving catch by Teel in left field. He retired all three batters in the ninth to improve his record to 6-0..
The Virginia batters were held to 7 hits, but we did have a double and two triples, all of which contributed to the scoring, and the team was errorless in the field and made several excellent plays.

Trent Perry in LTPPO mode? Brad placed a future cast.

I've changed the title of this thread to reflect what it turned into. Board members hijack thread and argue with each other like children! It's completely disrespectful to the people who want to talk about this topic to hijack the thread and turn it into something it's not. Please go start another thread if you want to argue about another topic. Thanks

Brad Franklin placed his Analyst Forecast Trent Perry choosing UVA yesterday at 8:09am. I say we're getting some good news soon. LTPPO!

***I have changed it back, but you are correct. Please just have normal, responsible, discussions. If you want to debate something not related to the original posters intention, create a post about that topic. This is happening on just about every post now, with the same arguments being started regardless of the original topic. - Hoodaves

Spring Game takeaways, standout performers

On the heels of UVa’s Spring Game on Saturday, @justin ferber breaks down a few takeaways including the main headlines and which players stood out the most.

Virginia scores in eight innings but falls to Georgia Tech 17 - 12

An outstanding day at the plate by O'Ferrall was not enough. He was 5 for 5 and scored 5 times while adding 2 RBI. Anderson was 3 forr 4 and scored twice, and Saucke was 2 for 5 with 4 RBI. They got 10 of Virginia's 13 hits. Virginia scored 3 times in the 1st inning but never scored more than 2 runs in any of the subsequent innings.
Virginia us seven different pitchers, and six had a minimum of around 9.0 ERA for the game as they combined for 13 earned runs on 25 hits allowed.

Spring Game Thread

Greetings from Scott Stadium! It's a beautiful April day, and a great day for football. The Blue/White game should get started in about 20 minutes or so, and the players are on the field warming up now. We'll have in-game updates here, though no official stats today, but Brad and I will do our best.

Players I see that aren't in uniform (most of these aren't surprises):
Chris Tyree
TyLyric Coleman
James Jackson
Jaden Gibson
Brian Stevens
Drake Metcalf
Ben Smiley
Miles Greene
TeKai Kirby
Michael Diatta
Ty Furnish
Dre Walker
Elijah Gaines
Kendren Smith

There are probably a few more that I didn't catch but I'll add them as we go.

As an aside, the new scoreboard is going to be a massive improvement. They've started putting the beams up, and it's going to be so much bigger than the old one.
