Baker's pinch hit single in the 10th gives Virginia a 3-2 win over FSU

Neither team was able to hit with runners in scoring position. Seminoles took a 1-0 lead in the first until the 6th when O'Donnell doubled and came home on a single by Gelof. FSU scored in the 9th after a walk, double, and an error by Gelof. The Cavs tied it up in the bottom of the inning when Didawick walked with 2 out, advanced to second on O'Ferrall's single, went to 3rd on an errant throw by the right fielder, and came home on a wild pitch. Woolfolk shut down FSU in the 10th In the bottom of the inniing, Teel singled with 1 out, was forced at second by Anderson, who went to second on a single by Saucke, and came home with the game winning run on Baker's single.
It was not a pretty game, but it was an ACC win and extended Virginia's home win streak. In case you were stuck at work and could not see the game, I must say that IMHO the ACCNX announcers leave much to be desired.

Bacot Returning

Just saw that Bacot is coming back for a 5th year. Really surprising to me given his pedigree, but good for him. Not sure where he was on the draft boards, but have to think he has a shot at an NBA career whether he goes now or next year.

Was looking at our transfer QB Tony Muskett videos and I think he is going to surprise some people

Was bored and went and looked up numerous videos of our new Transferred in QB, Tony Muskett. Some things that stuck out about him.

1.) He is quick on getting back, setting his feet and on the release pretty quickly.
2.) Really liked his accuracy both down field long passes and mid range throws across the middle.
3.) Loved how he kept the defense guessing when he looked like he would take off, he would step up and appear to take off to only buy time to throw it to a player crossing or in the end zone finding an opening spot.
4.) Like when he has the light go off he knows how to take off and run and doesn't hesitate.

Now granted we don't know what our O line will look like, but irregardless, it didn't appear he had lots of time to get rid of the ball on his previous team. Just really like that fake out move of appearing to take off long enough up to the line of scrimmage to buy time long enough for his offensive receiver to get separation for a nice strike and catch.

I will be pulling for him and hope the coaching staff allows him an opportunity to do and throw like he did at Monmouth.

That run up in the pocket up to the line to find guys open, and throw a dagger, will be his secret sauce. Let's hope the coaching staff incorporate it into their game plans as one of his strengths.

Long ball hitting and shaky Georgetown pitching give Virginia a 6-4 win

'Virginia scored 1 run in each of the first 3 innings. Gelof had a solo home run in the 1st. In the second , a single, a walk, and an error loaded the bases, and Virginia got a run when Rubin was hit by a pitch. Teel added a solo home run in the 3rd to give Virginia a 3-1 lead. Virginia added 2 more runs in the 4th when O'Ferrall hit a double after three consecutive walks. O'Ferrall drove in the final Cavs run with a single after Didawick reached base on an error and stole second. Hodges started on the mound and was relieved by Jaxel in the 3rd inning. Jaxel struck out 6 of the 8 batters he faced. I am guessing that he got the win.
Both teams had 8 hits. Virginia was led by O'Ferrall, who was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI and Teel who was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Virginia is undefeated in home games this year.

Transfer Portal Timing

Last year our season ended on 3/22 and the three players that entered the portal did so (as best I can tell) on 3/25 (Poindexter), 3/28 (McCorkle) and 4/1 (Milicic). This year our season ended on 3/16 so I know it's still early, but hopefully it's a good sign so far that nobody has entered the portal yet. That's not to say someone won't soon, but would imagine if anyone is going to enter the portal they would do so soon to maximize their opportunity to go elsewhere.

Has anyone heard anything on which way Franklin might be leaning? I know he likely will only make an announcement if he is going to return, but hopefully he has confirmed things either way with the coaching staff so they can know what their needs in the portal will be.

Was looking at some Utube sports stuff and saw Sam Brunelle on one of the highlights at the 1:10 second mark

I was watch this idiots in sports and Biggest mistake moments where they showed jerks in sports, people prematurely celebrating a victory early and bad calls by refs or officials; mainly soccer, baseball, basketball.

So at the 1:10 mark into the video, was Sam Brunelle (think they called her Sarah Brunelle) was what they called over charged foul on an opponent overhyping the injury. Was the FSU at the JPJ where the officials ejected her from the game on a player faking the injury.

Remember when I told you in that game the girl even walked out and did the mean girl wave with fingers closing to the palms/wave. Some of the calls in the video just highlight some really bad calls, but it was entertaining to see people so over confident pre celebrating to be passed at the line.

Felt bad for the guys that are racing to score in Hockey or the girl that falls down in the lead just feet away or soccer screw ups wide open.

Deep Dive: State of the Program (Part 1)

Deep Dive: In Part I of his State of the Program feature, @justin ferber takes a look at how UVa has moved through three phases of the Tony Bennett era and outlines the ups and the downs.

Virginia defeated High Point 8-3

Early started and gave up a home run on his first pitch but then went 6.2 innings allowing just 3 singles. He had a career best 10 strike outs. Hodorovich came in relief and gave up 2 runs on 2 doubles in the 8th. Tonas pitched the 9th and allowed 2 hits but 0 runs. Teel had 3 singles and 1 RBI in 5 at bats. Didawick had a 2-run home run to left in the 2nd and a RBi triple to right in the 7th. Anderson was 2 for 4 with a RBI, and O'Ferrall was 2 for 5 with 2 RBi.

I can't say I am sorry to see this season end

Don't get me wrong I wanted us to win and keep going but this team since about after the first 6 games has been so frustrating to watch that it has given me more frustration than pleasure watching them play. I was glad to see KS have a good game but look ay the opposition. He should have been dominate against this team. I hope he comes back but his still has to improve his game so much, All his points were on dunks and put backs and his foul shooting, which he is good at. He still must prove he can do that against a real center. Don't get me wrong I loved that he did what he did but he is a example of the frustration I feel with this team. We will be young next year and maybe that will free TB up some with his rotations of players and force him to play the freshman. We will see. On to next year.
