Maybe a silver lining?

Recent games have proven that Beekman is not NBA ready. If he can't finish plays at the hoop in College he will be toast in the NBA. As for Franklin maybe this season will motivate him to continue to improve his game and strive to be more consistent. Bottom line, if both Franklin and Beelman return, we have the core to be a very talented and experienced backcourt, By adding Harris Gertrude and Mcneely we have solid depth.

With both Vander Plas and Gardner moving on and Caffaro graduating, Traudt will have open path for PT. If Shedrick returns then TB has interior depth. Dunn will get a clear shot at the 4 while Bond may prove to be a Justin Anderson type 6th man.

Bottom line, looks like "wait till next year" may actually be worth waiting on.

Virginia takes game 2 from Columbia 11-3

The first batter for Columbia hit a home run, and the Virginia pitchers held them to just 2 more runs on 4 hits after the first inning. Edgington started and pitched the first five innings to earn the win. Tonas pitched the 6th and allowed 1 unearned run while striking out 3. Hodorovich pitched the seventh and also allowed 1 unearned run and struck out 2. Blanco pitched the 8th and allowed 0 runs on 1 hit. Woolfolk closed the game by getting 3 up and 3 down with 2 Ks.
Virginia batters took advantage of wildness by the Columbia pitchers by scoring 3 in the 2nd on Godbout's 3-run home run and adding 3 more in the 3rd on Teel's RBI double and Anderson's 2 RBI single. Our bats came alive in the 6th when 5 consecutive hits added 4 more runs. Both teams score 1 run in the 7th to end the scoring. Godbout was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.

Four-star wing Knueppel recaps his recent OV to UVa

Following his official visit to UVa recently, four-star Rivals150 wing Kon Knueppel talked to @HoustonWilson about his time in Charlottesville, his conversations with Tony Bennett, and what he thinks of the Wahoos.

Packline question for experts/board moderators

too much postgame emotional posting to put this in the game thread.

Early in the season someone (an analyst or opposing coach) noted TB and staff tweaked the packline this season and were forcing guards more to the sideline, I believe. Are we still doing this or something different? My eyes tell me something is different bc we are consistently allowing paint penetration and the ‘pack’ seems marginal at best this season. And when Shedrick is not around as a rim protector that seems to spell trouble. Maybe we went back to old ways with shed’s reduced minutes but amount of dribble penetration into the lane has made our defense looks avg at best.

Interested in real basketball analysis, not more complaining😂

Last minute of first half each game

One thing that has always perplexed me about Bennett is why he rarely has the team try for a two for one situation in the final minute of the first half. The last couple of games for example we get the ball with say around 50 seconds left in the half and instead of getting a shot off within 10 seconds to get the ball back a second time we run the clock down so the opponent gets the ball with less than 30 seconds left and can run the clock out. I am not advocating throwing up a prayer just to get one more possession, but they don't even seem to try and look for a shot in that situation until under 30 seconds and often end up with a rushed shot as the shot clock winds down instead of going quickly to get an early good shot and then guarantee another possession with some time left to get another good shot off. Does anyone have an ideas why he doesn't try to get those two possessions and settles for one almost every time?
