Saturday night update...

Just heard from a source and wanted to pass along the following:

Depending on if the administrative details can get worked out, we should have an official announcement tomorrow afternoon but if not, Monday at the latest. Word I've heard is that there are some buyout details to work out and obviously they want to give London a chance to meet with his team one last time.

And now seems like a great time to reiterate: Anything you read here, stays here.

Disappointed and Disgusted

Today's loss was one of the toughest to swallow in a long, long time. As another thread says, a microcosm of the London years. As distasteful as the loss itself is the fact I had to endure it surrounded by Tech fans. I am fortunate to have incredibly good seats in Section 107, which is VAF central on the east side. I had Tech fans to my immediate right (as seems to be the case every game as the guy who owns those seats sells them to whoever is coming to Scott every game), in the entire row behind me and the entire row two rows down. It was absolutely incredible to have a home game overrun by the opponent's fans. It disgusts me that our fans sell or give their tickets to Tech fans. I know it is anyone's prerogative to do with their seats as they will, but it is nonetheless a disappointment.

How we can dominate a game for three quarters and end up losing today's game is beyond me. I haven't read any of the other threads yet, just glanced over the titles. I guess you can blame it on the coaches but the players will have to own their efforts. How you can give up the big plays we did down the stretch is beyond comprehension. Our players are going to have to figure out how to make plays or we will never win consistently, no matter who our coach is. I am just flat out frustrated with today's game and can only hope our athletic department makes a fantastic hire to turn things around. It will take an entire change of attitude and performance on behalf of the new staff and the players. I hope those who have consistently blamed every single shortfall on Mike London are correct in your assessment that we have plenty of talent that only needs better coaching.

Postgame thread: VT 23, UVa 20

UVa's Mike London begins and say that was a heckuva tough way to lose a game. He was proud of his team's effort but he's really proud of them for dealing with the adversity all season long. It's always tough to lose close games to your rivals but hats off to Tech and Coach Beamer.

On the fake punt call in the first half, London said that there was a look they were going on and the audible was there. Tech did a good job of responding to it. "We needed to execute one more yard and we did not," he added.

Asked about his job status, London said his thoughts remain on this game and his players. He said he's thankful to have "had this opportunity" as the head coach at UVa and to influence young men's lives. He said the character of those guys in the locker room have really impressed him and it's important for them to know this is a tough game. You win, you lose, you try to get better and "there's consequences for a lot of things."

More coming...

Lincoln Riley? Mike Sanford?

I don't post very often and make NO claims to being an insider or to having inside information. So with that disclaimer, and FWIW, I did speak with a big $$ donor buddy of mine today; he claims that we have been having some serious discussions with Lincoln Riley, the OC at Oklahoma. Has anybody else heard anything along this line that would substantiate this??? Also heard we have been talking to Mike Sanford -OC at ND. Again, any info along this line as well???

OZ and Smoke and our QB's

I really look forward to what the next staff is going to do because these two next years in the right system with a little bit of imagination to it will be scary for the rest of the ACC to watch.

Are any of the younger guys at quarterback ready to overtake Johns? Or is bringing a new staff going to have a Jay Cutler effect where he plays better and more under control?

This one hurts bad.

It's amazing how much this one hurts after such a lousy season and with such bright prospects for the program just weeks or even days ahead.

We stayed with them the whole game. And when the offense finally started clicking, the defense got soft after being solid most of the day. One more easily winnable game going in the loss column. And we have one more year with the dang Hokies coming out on top.

Thank God better times are coming. Last bitter shot before a new era begins.

Go Hoos!!!

Why we beat Tech

Actually excited for football game for the first time in a long time because I know it's going to be London's last game.

Our offense has more playmakers than Tech.

If CS is ready to go I think we actually have the talent on the outside to make them pay for playing one on one outside.

If we can't go to that I think OZ and Smoke can do enough.

This is our bowl game and with the coaching staff probably on its way out of the door, I actually think we're going to let things loose and just play with the swagger we haven't seen all year. Actually we saw some of it on offense last week.

Defense should do enough. Brewer likes the deep ball, but we can get pressure to hit him enough.

Plus streaks have to come to an end sometime. We probably will fight for London enough to finally get a win for the first time since 2003.
