The coaching solution!

After serious deliberation, I have decided to offer my services as Head Football coach here at UVA. I have tremendous experience not only was I a two year starter on my H.S football team but I have personally watched over 600 games a year for the past 42 years, most in front of a 60" screen! I have memorized all of UVA's 5 plays and plan on expanding playbook by 20%. My two very attractive grand daughters have volunteered to help with recruiting. As far as a coaching staff is concerned, I have some buddies from my H.S. team that are still looking for a job, and several would make great assistants. I do have a special request, one that is imperative. I need to have a port-a-potty on the sideline because I can't always wait till halftime. To show everyone that this isn't all about money, I would be willing to donate $100.00 for pizza and beer for members of CAV CORNERS each and every week of our season. Of course before I make that an absolute promise, I need to verify that the job still pays 2 million plus lots of benefits. Don't be a roach, vote Hardy for coach!

2017 WR likes UVA offer

I sat down with 2017 WR Cameron Sullivan-Brown (CSB) yesterday. His offer sheet is poised to explode. Sullivan-Brown already likes his offers from N.C. State, Virginia and Temple. CSB is going to visit N.C. State for the UNC game and will be at Temple for the Notre Dame game. Schools like Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Illinois, Penn State, Florida, Virginia Tech and Maryland are interested.

The Virginia Huddlecast is very informative and passionate this week with former Cavalier All-Americans Ray Roberts and Anthony Harris. Tremendous content on the state of the program, areas of improvement and things that the Cavaliers need to focus on during the bye week before heading into conference play. I feel confident that you will enjoy it and please pass the word about the Virginia Huddlecast! GO HOOS!

Former UCLA TE Chris Clark discusses next moves

I spoke with former UCLA TE Chris Clark today about his upcoming official visits to Pittsburgh (10/9), UVA (10/16) and NC State (10/31) as well as which other schools are possible transfer destinations for him. Clark also mentioned that UCLA has blocked any possibility of a transfer to Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.

Wow!

That was a colossal train wreck of epic proportions that I have never witnessed in my life at any level of sports.

I've coached middle school girls that couldn't make a layup that didn't look as bad as we did tonight.

I think London lost the team for good tonight. I hope I am wrong but it doesn't look good.

We're Not Done Yet

We're going to win 4-6 games this season. We are not finished, the season is not lost. We'll have plenty of games to be happy about and lots of reason to cheer.

And at the end of the year we'll more than likely have a new coach. As much as I love CML as a person, I hope we get a new coach even if we win out the rest of the season. I just think we need a change, regardless of whatever happens the rest of the year.

In short, good things ahead for this team. Some on the field this year and more importantly in the program long term. Enjoy it, even if we have to endure some painful losses along the way.

It's great to be a Hoo!!!

Game Thoughts- The end of an era edition

First of all again my sentiments and frustration have nothing to do with any kids playing football on this team as I'm sure they're trying their hardest but that performance last night was the epitome of embarrassing. It just goes to show that the staff has not only lost players to some degree even if I have no facts to indicate that, but we are just not a very good football team and six years of trying to hide flaws are all being exposed at one time.

We can't tackle, I see too many defensive linemen just turning their back on run plays that look like something a third-grader would do. I mean we have played three very good offensive lines, but even William and Mary to some degree was pushing us around like we were standing there. Too many guys in my opinion are getting playing time because the coaches can't even bench them or the simple fact our options behind them are worse which exposes the bigger problem of development.

JT- I now see why he has been a defensive coordinator at a few schools. His scheme game will only work if you have Ohio State type of talent where you can basically play man covarage on the outside because you trust the defensive line can take pressure. Teams are making him look like a first-year defensive coordinator right now. Two true freshman quarterbacks have now looked like Heisman candidates playing our defense. Everyone on the defense other than Kiser and Dean have regressed in my opinion.

Some players- We really need to cut out the celebrations after being down 20 some points. I hate to call Tim Harris out, but I was absolutely embarrassed by his consistent trash talking after making a play. I applaud him for the fact he kept playing hard last night but there's no point to embarrass yourself on national TV by talking trash when you're getting your you know what handed to you.

Johns- Teams have film on him now and understand he's not going to throw the ball hard and will pretty much float it to a spot. He is a gamer, but this OL will get him killed if we have to play from behind like that.

Power Running- This is part of the reason why I'm pretty much on board with thinking the staff is a joke. We have played three teams with a very solid front seven and we just want to consistently run up the middle and then our offensive line has shown for a few years we can't run block if a pack of nuns were sitting on the front line. The fact we keep spitting out that we want to be a power running team when every commentator who does our games looks at the stats and says we aren't doing this makes us look like whoever is running this program is incapable of doing so which is true.

SF- Jet Sweep, Middle Run, 3rd and long? Please donate the rest of your paycheck to a worthy cause in Charlottesville because you are really ripping off the University. The fact that your playbook doesn't consist of anything that can even remotely have us in position to come back from down 15 or more is going to get your starting quarterback killed.

London- I applaud you as a man and I actually think you've been a great ambassador for the University, but sir you are just in over your head, your sideline antics make you look like a 12-year-old kid, and these kids who I'm sure put their heart on the line every week from the looks of some of their body language on TV have just quit on you. Please don't start burning red shirts like Groh did.

I really don't know where to go the last few games. I can't defend this team to any of my Hokie buddies anymore. The record speaks for itself.

After 2011-

4-8
2-10
5-7
1-3

Enough with the we should be able to beat Syracuse or Pittsburgh. If you watched the game last night I wouldn't favor us to win another game the rest of the season. As an alum and fan, rock-bottom is here. We have enough talent on this team to be able to play in a bowl game, but I pray to God that the administration and donors after last night huddled in a room and said enough is enough and really put their brains together on plotting out and evaluating other coaches so we can get this problem fixed soon. I will continue to root because every kid who puts on the jersey deserves that from me, but the writing is on the wall.

CavsCorner Video: Matt Johns

Quarterback Matt Johns had easily his worst game as a Cavalier on Friday night in UVa's 54-16 loss to Boise State. The junior signal caller was 12-of-25 passing for 199 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions that were returned for TDs.

In this video interview, he talks about the first of those, which came on the game's first play, how delating it was, what the Broncos did so well defensively, how the blowout loss doesn't define the Wahoos as the go in to their bye week, and how important it is for the team to move forward and stay together.
