The last 2 years have been incredible...rivaled only by the Sampson years in program history. No reason to believe 2016 will be any different...needs to be different in how far we go in the tourney though.
With 2 straight exits earlier than our seeding, I'm starting to see some similarities between UVa and Pitt the 12 years before they joined the ACC. Over that time they made the NCAAT 11 times in 12 years, won over 75% of their games, and won at least 25 games in 9 of those 12 years. They won the BE regular season a couple of times, and the BET in 2003 & 2008.
During that time they made the Sweet 16 several times, but the Elite 8 only once, and never a Final Four. They had a truly incredible run over a period that lasted more than a decade, but no one puts them in the category of UConn, Syracuse, Georgetown, Louisville, or other Big East teams who played well in the tournament because of their early exits. 2016 needs to be the year we prove we're not trending in that direction...this team/staff is too special for that!
