After the Christ decommitment some on the board questioned the commitment of the staff going after top ranked OL prospects, as it seems the only ones that commit consistently are "under the radar" types.

I decided to look a little into it and here is what I found based on the Rivals database:

UVa has offered 45 OL in the 2020 class.
One of them was a 5*
19 of them are 4* (2 RR of 6; 1 RR of 5.9; 15 RR of 5.8)
22 of them are 3* (11 RR of 5.7; 8 RR of 5.6; 4 RR of 5.5)
2 of them are 2* (1 RR of 5.4; 1 RR of 5.3)
One of them is unrated
11 of them are ranked in the Rivals 250

Of the 45 offers, 36 have committed to another school, one (Jestus Johnson, RR 5.6) has committed to UVa.

8 prospects have not made a decision yet. They are the following with RR:
Andrew Gentry - 6'8" 305 - RR 6.0 - Ranked 59th overall and 9th best OT
James Pogorelc - 6'8" 270 - RR 5.7
Brady Ward - 6'7" 310 - RR 5.7
Solato'a Moeai - 6'4" 290 - RR 5.6
Anthony Carter - 6'4" 296 - RR 5.6
Martin Veinberg (JUCO) - 6'8" 305 - RR 5.6
Alexander Gilbertson - 6'7" 295 - RR 5.4
Rodrick Tialavea - 6'5" 318 - Unrated

It definitely doesn't appear to be lack to effort, or lack to targeting high prospect. 45% of offers given out to OL were of 4* and 5* prospects. For whatever reason, these prospects just want to go elsewhere.

Arrive at your own conclusions, but IMO there is a concentrated effort to at least offer high end prospects (which tells me that they also recognize there is a lack of high end talent in the program now), but for whatever the reasons may be, they are not landing these prospects.
