This thread is in response to the current threads by Grafton and 4th concerning just how successful Bronco will be and if he will be and when. Graf, 6 years is too long. Not going to take that long and if did, Bronco will be gone by then. 4th is closer to the mark when he suggest a good record by year 3. Now....
99-43 says it all. While there are many questions and concerns.....can they recruit here, can the success at BYU be extrapolated to UVa, there will be a harder schedule but Bronco did more with less at BYU, the Mormon faith vs. the Virginia Experience...football is football.
This is not 99-43 in FCS, in division 2 or in high school, this is 99-43 at a high mid-major, a school that has done something UVa has never done, won a national championship. People had the same questions when George Welsh got here. They wondered if the success at the oddity that is the Naval academy be transmitted to the oddity that is UVa football. And Welsh's success was far less, something like 55-35 at Navy. So, I submit to you that football is football and that it would be VERY strange if Bronco failed at UVa. Very, very strange. I might be worried if we had caught an over-the-hill coach with a good record, say Mack Brown. But this guy is energetic with a LOT to prove. I think you can wonder aloud on how fast Bronco will succeed at UVa and cease worrying about if he will.
Bronco has beaten the best of the west. He has defeated Oregon, Texas, USC, and many others. This is a football coach.
