So the LaRue's and I have started an AAU program and this is our first season. We have a 3/4th grade team, a 5th/6th team (that I coach) and an 8/9 grade team. I'm sure we are gonna add more teams next year but this was a start.
So my 5/6 team had our first tournament today and it was supposed to be a D3 tournament. We get there and find out they combined the 6 and 7 grade together because they only had 1 7th grade team register.
I have a fundamentally sound team with great ball handlers and shooters but only 2 kids taller than 5'3 (my 10 year old son and a 5'8 6th grader). The 7th grade team had 3 kids over 6'. Then to top it off the coach played full court press the entire game.
I say all of this to ask why do some coaches have no class or sportsmanship? He was yelling at the kids when we twice broke the press by making the proper release pass and he was up 25-0 at the time. I just don't get what these adults are teaching kids today.
