I think we are all mostly coming to the same conclusion on this team and its potential. Defensively (including rebounding, though we only had a +1 rebounding margin last night) it could be TB's best UVA team ever, what will really cement this is if we can keep it up in league play. Offensively there are certainly going to be positives, but outside shooting and free throws could be an issue all year along with secondary ball handling.
Our big four has been everything we expected of them with all four averaging in double figures, three averaging over 8 rebounds (and Clark with over 5) and doing a fairly good job from 3 point land (18 out of 46). Plus they have played outstanding defense and have shown great leadership.
The other side of the coin are those players without the experience of the big four (incoming first years, Stattman, TW and Caffaro) that have performed way below expectations. Stattman has had his moments and TW is looking more comfortable each game while Morsell has been a beast on defense, but offensively all three have struggled as much as you can struggle. From 3 point land they are a combined 3 for 39 and overall they are just 11 for 64!!!!! Obviously that has to and will improve, but the question of how high our ceiling can be this year will mainly fall to these three players and their improvement in their shooting/scoring/ball handling.
