Virginia scored two runs each in the 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 9th innings. Good pitching was aided by four double plays by the Virginia infielders. Jaxell started on the mound and improved his record to 3-0 by allowing only two hits, one of which was a solo home run. Barker pitched the 6th and 7th and gave up one hit and no runs. Hungate pitched a three up, three down 8th but got into trouble in the 9th by loading the bases to start the 9th; after allowing a run on a sacrifice fly, Tonas came in to pitch. A 6-4-3 double play ended the game. The pitching staff allowed only three walks, and twice they were followed by a double play. Every position player had at least one hit, and Ford, Didawick, and Godbout had two hits each. Didawick had the only home run for the Cavs.
