A pair of Virginia’s incoming basketball recruits have been named Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective states.

Forward Isaac Traudt was named Nebraska’s player of the year on Wednesday morning, while guard Isaac McKneely won the award in West Virginia for the second straight season. The two four-star prospects are part of a 2022 UVa recruiting class ranked No. 13 in the country.

Traudt is ranked as the No. 10 power forward and No. 61 overall player in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-9 stretch forward averaged 23.6 points, 8.5 rebound and 1.8 assists per game as a senior at Grand Island Senior High School, while maintaining a 4.10 GPA in the classroom.

The 6-foot-4 McKneely entered Tuesday’s win in the Class AA state quarterfinals averaging 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists at Poca High School. The 24-1 Dots are now set to play in Friday’s state semifinals. McKneely is ranked as the No. 15 shooting guard and No. 70 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class. He’s got a 4.24 in the classroom.

Both players are now finalists for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
