I know it is only one practice and only a video. but after watching about 20 times (rather watch us practice hoops than watch this football team) I have some observations
It starts with the only statement from CTB: "Can the defense outlast the offense YOU KNOW THAT IS WHO WE ARE"
This team is EXPERIENCED at every position and has DEPTH, and they know who they are and what Virginia basketball is all about. Last year, CTB was indoctrinating a large first year class on the basics of the packline and UVA hoops. There was one drill after another on transition D and setting up the pack line. No need to do that this year. These kids understand.
CTB will finally have a "complete" team where he can teach greater nuances on D, focus more on O and get these kids playing in April.
Bottom line, this team will not face a better defense than they face every day in practice. Games will be about breaking down inferior defenses, while UVA fulfills its motto:
"Welcome to the JPJ. Please check you offense at the front door. It will be returned to you when you leave."
This team will hold opponents to less than 50ppg, even with the shorter clock. WE will grind down opponents like a salt grinder.
My prediction: 28-2 ACC 15-1 ACCT champions Final 4 35-3 overall.
