Jones pitched the first 7 innings and left with the Hoos up 5-4. Doyle came in to pitch the final 2 innings and get the save but not without the usual 9th inning drama. Simmons hit a home run in the top of the 9th to extend the lead to 6-4. Miami led off the bottom of the inning with a home run to make the score 6-5. Doyle then loaded the bases with 2 outs before getting the last batter to pop up to Clement. I believe that 3 of the 4 runs off Jones were unearned.
Hoos win 6-5.
