Honestly I love the hire. I think the staff in a short time has not only changed the culture, but made themselves a part of the community like the basketball and baseball staff, but the real job for basketball and baseball, while they took a while, is recruiting, and football seems to be a different animal. I mean we could sell playing time to kids until we are blue in the face, but kids will be kids and not exactly bite on that where they would 10 years ago.

NFL? BYU on defense has guys in the pros, but kids see offense first and I think some of those BYU kids ended up being older draftees because of missions and such. NFL should be a selling point, but?

I mean academics alone should be enough if we target the right kids, but with Stanford being very successful out west, it's become a tough sell.

Looking back, the London hire made this even harder after Groh. Bronco is a proven winner, but we really won't see his impact on the trail until 18. Hate to say it, but until we beat Tech on the field and make a bowl, we are a bottom 35-40 program at this level.

In the mid 90's selling our program as a yearly Top 20 program was easy. I am pumped, but this will take 5-6 years with a season or two in there with 6-8 wins, but long term this might be harder than TB had it after 10-12 years of crappy basketball. You only need a few kids to turn it around in basketball. I do think Bronco has a data driven style which should make things a little better, but winning has to happen on top of all the cool things this staff has done.

I feel Bronco is like TB (I think the baseball coach could leave before these two). I don't see Bronco or TB leaving because they found a place to put their imprint on.
