Virginia batters struck out 18 times but got 13 hits including home runs by O'Donnell and Gelof. O'Ferrall led Virginia with 3 hits, and Gelof, Saucke, and Anderson each had 2 hits. Parker started on the mound for Virginia and gave up 5 hits including a 2 run home run in the 2nd. Tonas came in to pitch in the 5th with 2 runners on base and 0 outs and kept the Heels from scoring. Berry relieved Tonas and pitched the last three innings and gave up 1 unearned run; he struck out the side in the 9th.
