when recruited. Dekker is really the only highly ranked guy and at the time he was listed at 6' 7". Koenig was listed anywhere between 66 and 113.
Kaminsky, Gasser, Dukan and Jackson weren't top 150 recruits. Nigel Hayes was barely a top 150 recruit. 98 of the 200 minutes played by Wiscy against Kentucky were by recruits who weren't among the top 150 of their respective classes.
Wiscy's system is very similar to Virginia's and Wiscy proves that finding the right "fits" to the system can be as effective as recruiting from the top of the ranking list. The big difference between the two teams is that Wiscy has big guys that can score inside or out and create their own shots. Otherwise I don't see much difference. I think UVA's perimeter guys next year will be better overall than Wiscy's perimeter guys this year.
One other note of interest. Kaminsky didn't become a starter until his junior season (other than 2 games his soph season) and he averaged only 4.2 points a game as a sophomore. He's a great example of a guy needing time and coaching to develop and for patience in waiting his chance. (Jack Salt, pay attention to this)
