I watched Novak play last year, and I had doubts if he wold be an ACC caliber player. He started quite a few games early in the season at second base, but did not come close to the Mendoza line in hitting. He was seldom seen in the second half of the season. I was wrong. Novak has been a very valuable player for UVA this year. He has played second base, third base, shortstop, and catcher. This year he is batting right around .290, and is fourth on the team in RBI. That is not bad for a player who usually bats ninth in the lineup.
