Was really interesting seeing the starting lineup tonight with Bennett rewarding TW and Beekman for their early play and sending a message to Clark. Clark then went in and got pulled pretty quickly after a turnover I believe for Beekman. I know Bennett would liked to have been able to do that more last year to settle Clark down when he was a bit out of control, but of course didn't have many options to replace him. I know Clark won't sulk and will take what Bennett tells him to focus on improving and really work at it.
Beekman certainly has played himself into the starting lineup (what a solid performance again, not spectacular with scoring such solid defending, ball handling and decision making, we really have a star in the making with him) and I don't see McKoy and the intangibles he brings leaving the starting lineup anytime soon (thus relegating Murphy for now to a sub role) so the only decision for the next game will be to stick with TW, go to Morsell or Clark. TW had a very solid game as well so bet he retains that spot.
With that starting lineup tonight really makes a nice 2nd unit, though for me I would rather see JAR get the time with the 2nd unit than Stattman. He was a bit shaky and nervous tonight in his first real minutes with rotation players, but you could see his quickness and potential on defense. Would be nice to get him as many minutes in the OOC games as possible.
Finally, really continue to be impressed with Shedrick on offense and defense. He will turn into a very good shot blocker and rebounder (esp as he gets stronger) and you can tell he has a very solid offensive post game. Bennett rarely trusts post players as first year players (which he's said), but this year may be the ideal situation for Shedrick to get quality minutes to prepare for a huge role next year with Huff likely to get into foul trouble at times and also matchup challenges for him that Shedrick may be better for.
Overall nice to get back on the winning track (and to just get the game in with so many cancellations of late in college sports).
