I lived in Hawaii, Guam, California during my career, where I saw a lot of teams with Hawaiian and Tongan kids on various west coast college and high school teams and they had some massive linemen or the quick muscular RBs and kick off returners.
The problem they use to have was lack of exposure out on the islands and lack of high school resources back then. My ex taught and was a coach (track and Basketball) in both Hawaii and Guam and several High Schools and back then they were lacking in equipment and even simple things like bleachers around the field for fans/family to sit in. Now they are slowly catching up and getting more exposure, along with training programs/weigh training programs and better coaching on the islands they didn't have before.
I saw several of the new coming football staff and I'm sure most probably know about it, but Mark Atuaia wife is the former lead singer from the singing family group "THE JETS" back in the 80's. She is Elizabeth Wolfgramm and she was the lead singer of the group.
