Remember, these are my thoughts. Maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong.
I feel it is obvious that the portal system has hurt TB and his coaching. We have failed to bring in impact players, however, we lose plenty. We did well with transfers back in the day with players like Anthony Gill. But the portal transfer system is a totally different animal than the old transfer rules. We could fill that final piece. We are having to do rebuilds through this current system. It does not help that most of our transfers in are total misses. That does not work with Tony’s style. Our best teams are the ones that have plyers here for 3 or 4 years. Our problem is that we have so many kids that leave after 1 year of not playing. In many cases, sitting behind inferior performing players. This leaves us in quite the quandary. Rebuilds with 2-4 players per year that have to learn our defense will not work. Well, at least it hasn’t. I would rather have a team of 9 3 stars that stay all 4 years, with 1 or 2 four stars, than a team of transfer outs. We have always been handicapped by style of play, now this. Not sure of the answer with our current set up. And yeah, I know that Tony has forgotten more than I will ever know, and while true, he should see this as well. Its a tough cycle that we have gotten ourselves in. How do we fix it??
