UVa has scored over 80 three times in the first 4 games. We only scored over 80 twice all season last year. Not only that, we are averaging 80.8 ppg. Against somewhat similar competition last year, GW, Norfolk State, James Madison, and South Carolina State, UVa scored 79, 67, 75, and 59. That is an even average of 10 ppg. I don't know what the overall country is averaging over last year but I highly suspect that an almost 11 point jump per team is not what is happening. I get the feeling more is going on here than just the rules changes producing more points for UVa. Is it our early defensive struggles? Is it better and deeper offensive options? Is it an opening up of the offense?
