I did not get to see the basketball game today but listened on streaming 3WV on my iPhone. The good news is that my youngest son (11), won a regional chess tourney in NOVA. He is now ranked nationally. He played two kids in the final two rounds that had previously beaten him earlier tourneys. Yes, I am a proud dad. He is also a pretty good all around athlete: he is wrestling for the first time this year and is playing basketball (the only deficit in B-ball is that dad is the coach). I will pose a question that he asked me, "is it OK to trash talk in Chess?" My wife quickly and emphatically said "NO!" I tend to think that it is situationally dependent.
