I've posted this twice in other threads to clear up a misconception. There has been some talk of us being the third overall #1 seed versus the fourth and why we shouldn't have the fifth team in the conversation for a 1-seed in our bracket.
The committee has said the 1-4 ranking of the 1-seeds only matters for the Final Four matchups. They want to avoid a repeat of some early to mid 1980s matchups were the top 2 teams entering the tournament played in one semifinal, leaving a less attractive final game. If JA had not gotten hurt last year, Kentucky and UVa would have been in opposite sides of the brackets. But the 2s that either team would have to play to get there are irrelevant.
When it comes to the 2s, they arrange as necessary.
