For the past several weeks, I have been guesstimating what the final score of our football games would be. Yesterday I thought that the final would be 35-10 in favor of Clemson. I would have been close if the game had ended after three periods when the score was 38-10, but Virginia scored 21 points and Clemson 10 in the final 15 minutes of play. I have since decided that I overestimated our defense and Clemson's second string defense. Virginia had the only interception. The Virginia defense was equally deficient on run and pass defense with just 2 tackles for loss and 0 pass break ups. Our pass defense allowed six different Clemson receivers to have catches of 20 or more yards, and Virginia had four receivers with 20 or more. Virginia gave up 203 yards rushing on 38 plays for a 5.1 yard average. On a positive note, the Virginia special teams played well.
