In most statistical areas Clemson and Virginia were very close, but Virginia won the game because of one major factor - free throws. Virginia was called for 10 fouls, and Clemson made 4 of their 5 attempts. Clemson was called for 17 fouls, and the Cavs made 15 of 22. The disparity in the number of fouls committed was largely due to the last 2 minutes of the game when the Tigers played hack and hope. The stat was not obvious to me because in a close game, I tend to remember the shots that we missed.
