In May the UVA rowing team arrived in Sacramento for the NCAA Rowing Championship. Bates College also arrived but discovered that the truck that was transporting their boats had crashed and that their boats had been damaged. UVA and Loyola Marymount each provided a boat to Bates. Bates then proceeded to win the Division III team title, the first national championship for the school in any sport. On Saturday the team will share the 2015 Musial Award with Loyola Marymount. The award is in honor of Stan the Man to celebrate sportsmanship.
UVA will receive award for "unofficial" national championship.
