Virginia had 13 hits including 6 home runs; Hanson was 3 for 4 with 2 solo home runs. The home run list also included Saucke (2 for 6 with 4 RBI), Ford (2 for 4 with 3 RBi), Didawick, and Becker (1 for 2 with 3 RBI). Virginia's hitting was aided by 8 walks and 3 batters hit by Cardinal pitching. Coady started on the mound for Virginia and gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 3 innings. Hungate pitched the next four innings to improve his record to 4-0; he scattered 4 hits and 1 run. Tonas pitched the eighth inning and allowed 0 runs on 2 hits. Augustin pitched the final inning and gave up a 3 run home run to end the scoring. The Virginia offense scored in every inning except the 1st and 8th, and scored 4 runs in the 2nd, 6th, and 9th.
The only consistency in the three games was the poor announcing; today I heard more than I desired about hair, golf, dogs, and food.
