Virginia takes #2 9 - 5 over NCSU

Savino started on the mound and pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run to earn his first win at Virginia. Tonas followed and retired all six batters in the 6th and 7th innings. After allowing a lead off single in the 8th, Tonas was relieved by Osinski, who gave up 3 consecutive singles. A fielders choice allowed another run, which cut the Virginia lead to 6-3.. Teel got the final out in the 8th inning before a walk and home run in the 9th ended the scoring .
Virginia started the scoring in the 3rd inning; Hanson singled and scored on a double by O'Ferrall, who scored on a single by Whalen. In the 4th, Anderson doubled and scored on Godbout's double. to extend the lead to 3-0. After the Wolfpack scored in the top of the 5th Saucke singled and scored on a home run by Ford. Ference followed with another home run to give the Hoos a 6-1 lead.. In the 8th Godbout walked, and O'Ferrall singled, and both scored on another single by Whalen who also scored on a double by Saucke to give Virginia a 9-3 lead.
Virginia had 14 hits which included 6 doubles and 2 home runs. Ford's home run gave him the #1 place for first years at Virginia.
