The first batter for Columbia hit a home run, and the Virginia pitchers held them to just 2 more runs on 4 hits after the first inning. Edgington started and pitched the first five innings to earn the win. Tonas pitched the 6th and allowed 1 unearned run while striking out 3. Hodorovich pitched the seventh and also allowed 1 unearned run and struck out 2. Blanco pitched the 8th and allowed 0 runs on 1 hit. Woolfolk closed the game by getting 3 up and 3 down with 2 Ks.
Virginia batters took advantage of wildness by the Columbia pitchers by scoring 3 in the 2nd on Godbout's 3-run home run and adding 3 more in the 3rd on Teel's RBI double and Anderson's 2 RBI single. Our bats came alive in the 6th when 5 consecutive hits added 4 more runs. Both teams score 1 run in the 7th to end the scoring. Godbout was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.
