Anyone who would read my posts would know that I am no defender of this coaching staff and thought that they should have been replaced after last season. And yet, brutal schedule and all, I find myself getting excited for the season. Perhaps its just the wishful thinking kicking in, but here's why.....
1. QB. For the first time in forever, we have an undisputed starter. Whether or not this is the staff finally wising up or that their hand was forced by GL's departure, this should be very positive for our offense. I believe that Johns can play, and will benefit from other points I'll raised below. In Johns I trust.
2. OL. We have depth, and a better OL coach. Could the OL be a strength of our team going into the year? Maybe?
3. RBs. Its time for the Smoke to emerge, and reports suggest he's ready to. Few teams in the conference have a blue chipper of his "promise" in their backfield. Can we turn that promise into reality?
4. Defense. Between the DL and the DBs, we have alot of talent. I mean, Andrew Brown and Quin Blanding? These are game changing talents. Yes, the LB corps is green, but there's some talent there. Bottom line, I like what Tenuta has to work with and believe in him.
5. Improved coaching. Yes, you heard that right. I say this and haven't even thrown up in my mouth (yet). We played a high level of competition last year and were competitive in nearly all the games we played. Can we take that step from competitive to actually coming away with victories? Plus, between Beatty and Borbs, we've upgraded our coaching in a few areas.
Clean slate, fellas. I for one am starting to get optimistic about the season. Here is your 7 win season below..

and one more that I can't predict!
