I was thrilled at the results of our game for the team, the coaches, and the fans. I watched the game last night and then watched the rerun this morning. There were several things about which UVA fans should be encouraged. Our rush defense was very good. We were willing to go deep on pass attempts, and Benkert was accurate. We greatly reduced our bad penalties.
On the other hand, there are still areas that need work. We rushed for a 4.2 average, but if we take away the 56 yard run by Zaccheaus, our average is just 2.85. Our special teams defense still needs work; fortunately we were aided by several bad penalties on Boise State at key times. Rypien was 24 for 42 passing in spite of a bunch of dropped passes.
