Wake Forest head basketball coach Danny Manning and Director of Athletics Ron Wellman announced Friday that senior Devin Thomas has been suspended for two games and sophomore Cornelius Hudson has been dismissed from the team for violations of athletics department policy.
“Cornelius and Devin have had lapses of judgment and hopefully they will learn from this,” said Manning. “We will continue to support them with their academic responsibilities at Wake Forest.”
Thomas, a 6-9 senior forward from Harrisburg, Pa. (Central Dauphin), leads the Demon Deacons in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (10.2 rpg) this season and is one of two players in the ACC averaging a double-double in both conference and overall games. He is the active ACC leader in career rebounds (1,029) and double-doubles (33).
Hudson, a 6-7 sophomore forward from Dallas, Texas (Mansfield Timberview/Mt. Zion Christian Academy), is averaging 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds this season. He scored a career-high 22 points, making 6-of-10 three-point attempts, in the Deacons’ last game at Pitt on Feb. 16.
