Getting started on the telecon with OC Steve Fairchild.

Asked about Matt Johns being the No. 1 QB and if it's a fluid situation, Fairchild said that it very much is. If they were playing a game tomorrow, this is what it would look like. He said they still have a long ways to go before they have to play and they all have a lot of work to do.

When they charted every play and looked at TD drives and ball security, Johns' overall grade was higher than Greyson Lambert and was more productive. Fairchild said he thought that Johns deserved at this point to be the starter.

On YACs being a point of emphasis for the QB, Fairchild said accuracy can turn a short pass into a long pass and last year, they weren't as explosive as they could have been. Accuracy was a part of the equation in Johns being listed No. 1.

How far can they go into fall camp before announcing a starter? Fairchild said you want to make it as soon as you can but that's the case for every position.

Is it frustrating that neither QB has grabbed the spot? Fairchild said that you'd like to have one clear guy but he thought both guys got better this spring.

Asked about the Spring Game, Fairchild said it wasn't as good as the other scrimmages/live period. They charted more than 600 plays over the course of the spring.

More coming...
