Ford drives Virginia to a 8 - 6 sweep over Miami

Ford was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 1 double and 4 RBI. Virginia scored 2 runs in the first inning, 2 in the third, and 3 in the fourth to take a 7 -0 lead. Valincius pitched 6 shut out innings before the wheels fell off in the top of the seventh; he allowed 3 runs and was replaced by Koenen who gave up 2 runs which shortened the lead to 7 - 5. The second of Ford's home runs in the bottom of the 7th increased the lead to 8 - 5. Markus gave up 1 run on 2 hits in the 9th before Buchanan, Moore, and Lanzendorfer each retired the one batter that they faced to end the game.
