In what I thought was a sloppy game by both teams, Virginia fought back from a 10 - 7 deficit in the 4th period and scored the final four goals to advance to the NCAA semis. Virginia had 50 shots with only 26 on goal while Hopkins had 36 shots with 19 on goal. Hopkins scored the first 4 goals in the first 7 minutes of the game and maintained the lead until Virginia evened the score at in the third period. Hopkins then scored the next 3 goals to lead 10 - 7 going into the final period. Boyden, Cormier, and Millon scored the 4th period goals for Virginia to send the game into OT. Both teams had chances in the first OT without success. Shellenberger scored an unassisted goals 20 seconds into the second OT to get the sudden death win for Virginia.
