Bettinger started and pitched 5 innings and gave up 3 hits and 1 run. UVA later scored 1 run, and the game was tied at 1 each going into the 10th inning. Smith hit a 3-run home run to put the Hoos on top. In the bottom of the inning, Doyle gave up 2 singles and was replace by Shambora who got two outs and then hit a batter. He then gave up a 3-run double on a 3 and 2 count to tie the game at 4. The game remained tied until the 13th inning when Harrington gave up a run scoring single with two outs.
Oak pushed button after button, but we could just not get a hit with runners in scoring position (other than Smith's shot). We tried 7 different pitchers, and most pitched well. The difference was the BC got key hits in the 10th and 13th.
