Hello all,

My name is Rick, and I have recently re-joined the Cavscorner. I am actually a UVa grad (Comm '08) and so is my sister (Arts and Sciences '16). I was a member of this board during my college time and for a few years after, but have not been back in several years. I am re-emerging both for my selfish UVa fix, as well as the fact that my brother is a rising senior and maybe (hopefully) a UVa-caliber recruit. Great to be back and Wahoo-Wa!

I was wondering if you all could provide (a) feedback on my brother's film; and (b) any advice re: his ongoing recruitment, especially as it pertains to UVa.

My brother is Davis Sherwood. He is a 6'3" 225' LB (also played WR/TE) and a rising senior. He played the first 3 years at Peddie (NJ) and has now transferred to Good Counsel (MD) for his senior year. Long story short, the Peddie program has imploded and 80% of the team transferred. I would like to first point out that Davis has an unweighted 3.9 GPA and >1400 SAT score. He was actually on academic scholarship at Peddie.

Davis recently received his first offer from Navy ~2 weeks ago!! We are so proud of him. However, although he is humbled by this offer -- and while Navy will be hard to turn down -- UVa is among his dream schools. He grew up going to games when I was a student and LOVES UVa football. Although I am biased, I think it would be an excellent fit for him!

In any case, I was wondering if you all could watch his film and offer feedback about his potential for UVa? Also, how can Davis get his film in front of UVA coaches? I know he has emailed Gerry and some others in the office, but either due to COVID or other reasons, not much traction has been made.

Could you please opine on both questions? His film and profile are below. He wanted me to let you know that he is first and foremost open to any feedback on the film. Also, he wanted me to let you know that he played both ways last year for a 'Top 300' national school (Peddie). Good Counsel next year should be a top 25-50 program, as they usually are. At Peddie, he was the team defensive MVP and all-conference (they send ~5-7 players DI most years).

Based on the film, does anyone think he has a chance at UVa? He is beginning to hear a lot from Syracuse and West Virginia. He also visited Wisconsin, VT and ECU last fall and remains optimistic on these fronts.

Any advice would be appreciated - and go HOOS.
