It seems to me that much of the current problem with high school and college basketball can be traced back to the rise in AAU ball. This seems to have occurred in the last ten years or so as AAU ball and teams have become so popular. I am sure that there are plenty of honest coaches in AAU ball but there also seem to be far to many who are in it for the money and power. Too many handlers who are looking for a pay day to steer a kid to a certain program. That's not to mention the mentality that is generate in the kids by the style of play that is promoted. The me first, all I care about is getting my shots and scoring to look good to the coaches who came to see me. It seems that we need to get rid of the AAU as much as anything. I know that this could happen with high school coaches also and probably has but it was never as much as now.
