Rivals250 DB Eric Reed Jr. is coming off back to back visits to Ole Miss and UVA this past weekend. A source close to the four-star safety says Ole Miss is leading the way at this point.
Notre Dame is a real threat here, but the source suggested distance could be a factor for the North Louisiana prospect. A visit could change that, though, and the Reed family is trying to get up to South Bend in the near future.

Ole Miss has Reed atop their secondary board. Reed camped at LSU, but the Tigers are not yet ready to take his commitment. Ole Miss has made Reed a priority and it's close to home, and Notre Dame has done the same, but does not have the same distance advantage as the Rebels.

Virginia is making in-roads with Reed, but took another safety this afternoon, and that's two Louisiana defensive backs in the Cavs' class already. He officially visited this weekend and it's very obvious UVA has made Louisiana a major recruiting territory and has Ricky Brumfield leading the charge in the area. The source deemed it "shocking" if he were to wind up at Virginia.

At this point, Reed is looking to make a decision in the near future. With that in mind, I have a FutureCast pick in for Ole Miss. The only two X-factors would be a visit to Notre Dame or LSU changing its position with him.
