Virginia had to come from behind several times. Miami led 8 - 4 after 4 innings, but the Hoos scored 1 run in the 5th, 1 run in the 6th, and 2 runs in the 7th to draw even. The Canes plated a run in the 8th to retake the lead 9 - 8. Didawick hit a home run in the bottom of the 9th to knot the score at 9 before Teel drove in Nunnallee to end the game. Teel was clutch the entire game; he had 3 hits and 3 walks in 6 trips to the plate and drove in 3 runs. Becker, Ford, and Didawick each had 2 of Virginia's 13 hits.
Hodges had a rough start and gave up the first 8 runs. Jaxel, Blanco, and Lanzendorfer pitched well in relief and kept Miami shut down in the last six innings.
