UVA baseball record in the O'Connor years

Coach O'Connor has completed 12 years as the baseball coach at UVA. In that time UVA has made 12 NCAA appearances, won 7 regional championships, 2 ACC championships and 1 NCAA championship. The winning percentage during these years is 73.5, which is the 3rd best in the NCAA. Since 2009 UVA has won 342 games, which is the most in the NCAA.

In today's installment of the CavsCorner Podcast, we take a look back at Tuesday night's miraculous comeback in Winston-Salem and how it was that the Wahoos were able to steal victory from the jaws of defeat. And then the bigger question: What does Virginia's first ACC road win of the year mean for the team going forward? Can it be a true springboard for the team or did the "victory" just cover up issues that will continue to persist?

Does it matter that the football staff hasn't really recruited on the east coast?

If you look at a lot of other schools. teams are more and more taking players from other states. Not saying that the staff can't or won't make traction in the state of Virginia, but in the 757 area we aren't recruiting kids it seems like we were 10 years ago and honestly if you put your stamp on kids from other states that fit your style of play is it really going to matter? I think kids want to play where they're comfortable with the staff and have potential to win, which Bronco has a history of doing so I'm not caught up on where we're recruiting kids, but if they fit our system and how they develop.

I am convinced they really need a new rankings forumla

After looking at the NCAA rankings, I am convinced they really need to come up with a different formula for how teams are ranked and teams that play top 25 talent night in and night out.

I saw Duke now has dropped to 24 after the Miami loss, and are 15-5.

I see Wichita State now is 22 and jumped basically 6 spots playing absolute stiffs. I watched their blow out of Loyola of Chicago and that team couldn't beat most 5A high schools, just a joke to be a division one door mat.

I look at the ACC teams like ND, Clemson and others that aren't ranked by having just as good of a record and the reason they aren't ranked because they are beating each other up in a DEEP ACC conference.

So my rub is the fact that a conference with that level of competition has teams that will not get ranked, while they play a harder scheduled night in and night out, while the Wichita States of weak conferences that have just them and Northern Iowa one year and then them and Indiana State the next year, but NEVER more than one other top 50 team in their conference. It's pretty sickening to watch that Team Climb back toward the top 10 and BRAG about how good they are when they are playing the ENTIRE schedule in conference of teams ranking from 110-290 and just themselves.

Again, I wish the NCAA ranking committee could come up with a weighed ranking like diving or something....for an example, if you only go out and do one flip, it is weighed a lower scale regardless if you land a 10, compared if you do a triple summersault and land a 10.

Wichita State and several others in ALL Weak Conferences are basically doing one flip, landing 9 and 10s every week, while ACC teams are having to do triple summersault, and half pikes and coming up some weeks with 6's and are not getting credit in the rankings to what they are playing against night in and not out.

I just don't see how the committee can continue to give BIG leaps in the polls to teams essentially playing night in and night out DIV III, DIV II, or high school level competition. I think if you play a team in the top 25 you beat them you are awarded ex amount of points. If you beat a team in the top 10 more points, if you beat a team in the top100 range maybe very few should be awarded. 200 and beyond 1/2 a point.

Duke (who I'm not a fan; Diehard UVA fan) who loses to Miami that has been ranked drops 4 spots and has a over all record of 15-5, while Wichita State beats a complete stiff not even ranked in the top 150 and has not played ONE top 25 team ALL YEAR. Wichita State has a current record of 14-5 and jumps from #28 to #22. That's just ridiculous. The most ridiculous thing is with around 10 games in conference remaining, Duke, UVA, NC, Louisville will have to play at least 4 more games against top 25 before ACC round robin play. Wichita State and teams like them have 11 games left and will play NO ONE ABOVE 77, and 9 of those teams below 150 to 290 ranking. They will probably not see a top 25 team until the sweet sixteen if they get that far! Time to change the ranking formula to force teams that have admitted, like Wichita State they are playing in a joke of a conference, but refuses to leave because it will guarantee a year in and year out top 25 ranking for their team and coach! The school has been encouraged to move to one of the more competitive conferences and they have declined the last several years. Could you image a team that played NOT ONE top 25 ALL year, has 2 or 3 losses to 150 and below level competition and the committee could rank them up next to North Carolina or Oklahoma. The ranking point system needs to change!

I said it a few games ago this team may not make the tournament

We have no heart and passion and there is something wrong with this teams chemistry. I can see us losing all the rest on the road and one or two at home. I don't think TB has any idea what it will take to get this team going. He must be really frustrated. There are some really serious problems that aren't X and O's . I really hope I am wrong but I fear that this team may just mail it in from here on out given the lack of desire I have seen.

Any Hoos in Louisville area need tickets (gotta read this story)

The wife, boys and I are diehard Hoos fans, so for Christmas my wife ordered a variety of tickets for various basketball games. One of those games is for the Louisville game Saturday. Not paying a whole lot of attention to the schedule, I just knew that the game was Saturday... So when I printed the tickets out, I realized that my (well intentioned) wife had bought tix for an away game (9 hours from the metropolis of Barboursville VA). We are not able to take the road-trip, so as several HOOs fans have done for us, I am offering these tix to any HOOs fan that is able to go to the Louisville game Saturday. Regardless of the result, my wife is a "keeper".

From Mobile to Da Ville.

Nott sure how much I will be able to post but I will be giving my perspective from the senior bowl. We just got here and I have to say I'm amped! Reese is ha ding a great week so far and I can't be more prouder. If it with you all I'll give you all the info I can. So if you have any questions ask away.

On a side note.... I FOUND OUT IT'S MARDI GRAS!!!! OMG
