He had some great years and a few that were quite mediocre (this being one of them) but gotta’ appreciate a school that recognizes what it is and what it can be and sticking with the same guy for so long. Interesting discussion by STL on why our new triangle offense with small ball is working better than blocker-mover. Also explains how Shed and Caffaro don’t work when we are running this new offense. Things may need to change as we face teams with a bigger inside presence?

Saw that happen that 5 star commit, Cormani McClain from Lakeland FL, is the #1 DB in the country, #3 pick overall went from a Miami commitment/soft commit to full commitment to Deon Sanders at Colorado.

I don't know if anyone saw his commitment photo posing down on the field in snow, but what was really shocking is looking at the stadium seats and structure in the back ground and it looked like an old rusted out tin can.

Great stats. List arranged in order of good games, but I think good/bad ratios are most telling. Funny, the players I always complained about getting minutes are on the bottom by ratio, and ones I wanted PT are near the top by ratio.

Virginia committed 9 fouls and VPI committed 13, but we avoided fouling when they were shooting. The Hokies were 2 for 2 from the charity stripe while the Hoos were 12 for 13.

I love UVA basketball. We are so blessed to have a program that attracts young kids like this who were BMOC last year in high school, yet are so humble.

ACC Storylines: With league play now having taken center stage, @justin ferber takes a look at some of the top storylines facing UVa and others around the ACC.

Preview: No. 10 UVa gets the first of two regular-season matchups against rival Virginia Tech at home tonight (7 p.m., ESPNU). @justin ferber breaks things down ahead of Round 1 of the Commonwealth Clash.

Outside of two o-fer games from 3 (0/8 vs Miami and UNC), he is shooting almost 47% (21/45) since December.

His outside shooting is huge for us. But I wanted to raise two other points that I see as highly valuable advances in his game:

Perimeter Defense - he has really impressed here. Several times in recent weeks he has picked someone’s pocket straight up or off a cross-court swing pass—to me the classic sign of a wing who “gets” weak side positioning in the pack line.

Defensive versatility & rebounding - He has effectively played the 4 for much of the last two games. And to my untrained eye, his playing above his size on defense has been a major reason this small lineup works. That + his hitting the defensive glass (7 and 9 total Rebs last two games) gives Tony another significant chess piece in lineup flexibility.

Three teams have done this. And now ND has cut a 24 point 1st half and 23 point 2nd half lead down to 10 with less than 4 to play - on ESPN U.
