Chris Slade dropped by Hillsborough this morning and offered defensive end DJ Jones. He's set for an official to UVa this weekend, too.

Three-star DB and UVa legacy Zahir Rainer talked to @BigGriff about picking up the offer from the Hoos, his recent trip to Charlottesville, and where things stand in his recruitment.

That means extra year…..if wanted……for KT, Kemp, Bratton, Kam Butler, AJ (already gone), and Def tackle Davis. Probably others.

I’d like to see Bratton, Butler & KT play one year in orange & blue.

Our offense most of the second half was like last year, 4 guys standing around outside with KC dribbling at the top of the key and then driving to make a play. Why is BVP passing up wide open threes to try and drive to lose the ball? We did try and use JG advantage some in the second half and he provided a good scoring option. And please don't get me started on foul shooting. Will someone work with Jayden to learn to put some arc on the shot and to stop leaning into the shot like he is trying to help the ball to the basket. He misses almost all of his shots short with little arc on the ball. Dunn showed well tonight but IM looks scared to shoot now that he has missed some shots he was making earlier.

It amazes me that the best shooter in NCAA history can have guys who shoot the ball so poorly. I thought early we had changed that trend but now it looks like we are back to last year's form. Also what happened to KS in this game offensively. He was no factor and seemed out of the flow against a team that had a 6' 8" guy as their tallest starter. He should of had a much bigger impact on the offensive end.

We did play good D and held JMU to a poor shooting percentage.

Sorry to sound so negative but that was a poorly played game against a good team but one we should have dominated. I know if we shoot our free throws better we win by 10-12 but we didn't. I think it shows how important RB is to this team's success. If we play like this against Housten we will get schooled again.

Talk about trading up. Lose Satterfield to Cincinnati and lure Brohm from Purdue. Somebody did a bang up job making this hire.

I just saw the UNC offensive coordinator is going to Wisconsin to join Fickell. The UNC offensive line coach is going to Wisconsin as well. I think the OC will be tough to replace, hopefully weakening UNC.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember UVA does not play well coming out of exam break. Perhaps the study guide for this year needs to be free throws, free throws, free throws with some 3 pointers in there for good measure.

Brunelle hit three times from deep and tallied 11 points to help build at 19-12 lead after the first period.

Great reporting here from the DP's Greg Madia. The NCAA has granted an extra year of eligibility to any UVa player that was in their final season in 2022, as the season was cut short by the tragic shooting last month.

Preview: After losing last year in Harrisonburg, the Wahoos have a shot at revenge tonight when third-ranked UVa hosts James Madison. @justin ferber has our breakdown of the matchup with the Dukes (8 p.m., ACCN).

For anyone curious to what happened, Igor Milicic transferred to Charlotte and is playing 25.1 minutes a game, he is the second leading scorer on the team averaging 9.8ppg, he is second leading rebounder with 5.2rbpg, he is averaging .7 blocks a game and .2 steals a game. Milicic is shooting 50% from the field and 36.1% from 3pt land. Charlotte is currently 7-2.

Carson McCorkle transferred to Wofford Terriers and is playing 23 minutes a game, he is averaging 6.1ppg, he is shooting 35.1% from the field due to mostly 3 pt shots and averaging 33.3% from 3pt land. The team is 5-4.

Congratulations to both of them and I wished we could have held onto Milicic for his size, shooting ability and his over all skill set.

I just don't see with Bennett's favorites would have given either much time on the floor as long as Franklin, Gardner, Clark were here even this year, despite these three of the starters having scoring droughts, mismatches in size, difficulty stopping the person they are guarding from scoring and turnovers.

After taking in UVa's win over FSU, 2024 4-star forward Raleigh Burgess picked up a UVa offer.

After rewatching the UM game, I am just amazed at how much better Shedrick and Beekman are this year from last. Shedrick in particular is light years better this season. Just a couple quick areas of dramatic improvement:

High hedge- UM game was some of the best high hedge defense in years- on par with Akil. KS has learned to be in a balanced, defensive posture as he attacks the ballhandler- no reaching or upright stance that ballhandler can exploit. He assumes defensive movement posture as he begins to hedge, rather than simply "getting out there" in an unbalanced or overly aggressive manner. Finally, rather than reaching IN, KS is reach OUT and allowing ballhandler to make the mistake of continuing one more dribble right into KS- making his now balanced and long frame/ arms capable of deflection WITHOUT FOULING.

Attacking hoop- much better at catch and going up- not limited to the lob but can now catch bounce pass and attack. The second half drive and bounce to KS in traffic for finish was spectacular.

If Kadin continues with this progress- he will be All ACC and first round NBA next year.

We have all seen and commented on Beekman's progress. One little thing- Beekman is attacking passing lanes more aggressively and successfully. That little disruption has big impact on offenses. NBA scouts are noticing- he is now on first round radar. Only issue is his ankle- hope it heals quickly.

We are winning with the same returning group plus Vander Plas. When McNeeley and Dunn get more comfortable this team will go from NIT quarters to the Final Four, all because of player development.

Wow from playing in the NCAA Championship game last year, to 4 straight losses this year. Wonder if UNC is beginning to ask their self if maybe they jumped the gun with that BIG MONEY contract with Hubert. LOL

My 14 year old is asking for some basketball tickets for Christmas this year. Anyone have some decent seats to any of the games after December, would love to make a deal. Thanks in advance.
