Transfer Commitment! UVa lands K-State PG Dai Dai Ames

Ames is Virginia bound after one year with the Wildcats, according to his agent Jack Lieb (to ESPN's Jeff Borzello). Ames scored 5.2 ppg and dished out 2 apg in just over 20 minutes per game with the Wildcats. Ames was ranked #66 in the 2023 recruiting class (4 spots behind Elijah Gertrude) and has three years of eligibility. UVa has now added three former top-100 players to the roster via the transfer portal, and Ames takes their last open scholarship.

Basketball Recruiting Updates

Some updates.....

UCLA is doing everything they can to try and keep Trent Perry in LA. Right now they do not have any more scholarships available but there has been some talk about pushing a kid out to make room for Perry. Perry's parents do not want him at UCLA but it is pretty obvious Perry does not want to be far from home.

Aidan Mahaney was strongly considering UVA. It sounds like that UConn might have had a stronger NIL pitch.

UVA is completely in play for TJ Power. The three schools getting the most noise right now are Wake Forest, UVA and Notre Dame. I think things will be escalating quickly with him. He has visited Virginia before so he does not really have to visit again. He knows the place.

Right now I am not hearing any other names... I am sure the staff has some names of guys they are keeping tabs on right now but I am not sure. This week will be very interesting... As I know more, I will keep you guys informed.

MLAX - Virginia defeated Johns Hopkins 11 - 10 in 2 OT

In what I thought was a sloppy game by both teams, Virginia fought back from a 10 - 7 deficit in the 4th period and scored the final four goals to advance to the NCAA semis. Virginia had 50 shots with only 26 on goal while Hopkins had 36 shots with 19 on goal. Hopkins scored the first 4 goals in the first 7 minutes of the game and maintained the lead until Virginia evened the score at in the third period. Hopkins then scored the next 3 goals to lead 10 - 7 going into the final period. Boyden, Cormier, and Millon scored the 4th period goals for Virginia to send the game into OT. Both teams had chances in the first OT without success. Shellenberger scored an unassisted goals 20 seconds into the second OT to get the sudden death win for Virginia.

Four-star 2025 G Lewis talks UVa official visit, fit with the Wahoos

During the course of his recent official visit to UVa, four-star 2025 guard Acaden Lewis learned a lot about the Wahoos. He talked to @HoustonWilson about the trip, his fit with the program, and much more.

Hitting stats for the 2024 baseball regular season

Virginia hitters had an impressive year. The team batting average was .340, and the on base average was .431. The Hoos had 13 players with 10 or more at bats; all hit .292 or better, and 11 hit .306 or better. The team had 666 base hits, which included 132 doubles, 13 triples, and a school record 106 home runs. Did awick's 22 home runs put him in third place on home runs in a season, and Ford's 17 home runs is a record for first years. Ference also hit 17 home runs and a team leading 3 triples.

Virginia gets the sweep with 10 - 9 13 inning win against VT

Even though the teams and divisions were already decided, this was an important game for both teams. Tech jumped out to a 7-0 lead by scoring 3 runs in the first inning and 4 runs in the second.. Virginia scored in the third on a two run home run by Saucke. Virginia batters left a total of 15 runners on base and were 2 for 16 with runners in scoring position in spite of getting a total of 18 hits. Virginia gained a tie score in the seventh when O'Ferrall walked, Stephan singled, and Saucke brought O' Ferrall home with another single. Ford and Ference followed with home runs. Both teams scored once in the eighth. There was no more scoring until the thirteenth inning. Tech scored without a hit to take a 9 to 8 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Anderson led off with a walk and scored on a walk-off home run by Didawick.
Coady was the starting pitcher and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits. He was relieved by Woolfolk in the second after Coady had given up 2 doubles. Woolfolk allowed a walk and two doubles before getting out of the inning. Woolfolk pitched the third, fourth, and fifth innings without allowing a hit. He was relieved by Tonas, who pitched 2 innings and allowed just 1 hit. Teel came in and pitched 2.1 innings and gave upe up 4 hits but just 1 run. Barker pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 1 hit but no runs. Hungate pitched the final two inning and allowed no hits but 1 run. He got the win (7-1)
Ford got 4 hits, and Saucke got 3.
The Virginia win gave the Hoos the 4 seed in the ACC tournament. The four home runs extended the single season record.

Spring Game Thread

Greetings from Scott Stadium! It's a beautiful April day, and a great day for football. The Blue/White game should get started in about 20 minutes or so, and the players are on the field warming up now. We'll have in-game updates here, though no official stats today, but Brad and I will do our best.

Players I see that aren't in uniform (most of these aren't surprises):
Chris Tyree
TyLyric Coleman
James Jackson
Jaden Gibson
Brian Stevens
Drake Metcalf
Ben Smiley
Miles Greene
TeKai Kirby
Michael Diatta
Ty Furnish
Dre Walker
Elijah Gaines
Kendren Smith

There are probably a few more that I didn't catch but I'll add them as we go.

As an aside, the new scoreboard is going to be a massive improvement. They've started putting the beams up, and it's going to be so much bigger than the old one.

Closing the book on Trent Perry’s recruitment…

I just want to pass along some info on all that’s gone into the last few days leading into today’s news that UVa has been told by Trent Perry that he isn’t going to be coming.

The best way I can describe this entire situation is that everyone around the kid (parents, HS folks, the training world, etc) did all they could to get him to come to UVa and it just never could happen. Whether he didn’t want to come across the country (which has been the consistent theme from all sources) or if it was something else, we don’t truly know because the kid himself hasn’t been talking to people. That’s important to keep in mind. At no point, at least to our knowledge, was he ever a silent commit or anything. (To that point: As I discussed on the podcast, my Forecast for him was not because it was done; I’ve never used that feature that way. Some folks certainly do but to me, having data that makes you think something is happening is a forecast. That’s not the same thing as knowing it has happened and so when I know something is done done, I don’t do the Forecast thing. Given the info I had at the time I put that thing in, I would very likely still do it again.)

As of this week, the universal expectation remained that UVa would be the eventual pick. As everyone seems to know, per a source that asked we keep it close, on Friday his transcripts moved through admissions. That fueled a lot of the perceived momentum. Also on Friday, word from sources was that Warley had committed. That also fueled optimism on Perry from some sources. By Saturday morning, the Warley news broke and the expectation was Perry would likely follow suit within the next day or so, which was the long thought timeframe.

Several hours later in the afternoon, UVa (for reasons that still perplex me) put out a “bat signal” tweet that seemed in relatively quick hindsight to be about Warley. At the exact same time, though, a confluence of multiple sources passed along what they believed was good intel on Perry and that it was either done or happening. Not too long after, confusion lifted and there was a resetting of the deck. Through the night last night, this thing went back and forth. Even as late as this morning, sources on the west coast had flipped from UCLA last night to UVa this morning.

I know this is a tough beat and there’s no way to frame it otherwise. I feel pretty confident in saying that UVa did about as much as it could possibly do (OV, PT, and especially NIL) to get him short of TB camping out in his driveway like a crazy person.

It’s the strangest recruitment I can remember since the entire time UVa seemed to be recruiting against air. But if the kid doesn’t want to come, you can’t make him. And unfortunately for the Hoos, that’s the bottom line on this one.

Trent Perry in LTPPO mode? Brad placed a future cast.

I've changed the title of this thread to reflect what it turned into. Board members hijack thread and argue with each other like children! It's completely disrespectful to the people who want to talk about this topic to hijack the thread and turn it into something it's not. Please go start another thread if you want to argue about another topic. Thanks

Brad Franklin placed his Analyst Forecast Trent Perry choosing UVA yesterday at 8:09am. I say we're getting some good news soon. LTPPO!

***I have changed it back, but you are correct. Please just have normal, responsible, discussions. If you want to debate something not related to the original posters intention, create a post about that topic. This is happening on just about every post now, with the same arguments being started regardless of the original topic. - Hoodaves
