When the Wahoos host No. 23 Virginia Tech today (noon, ABC), so much will be on the line for UVa. A victory not only puts Virginia in the ACC Championship Game for the first time but it ends the 15-year losing streak to the Hokies and likely locks up a birth in the Orange Bowl should UVa come up short against Clemson next weekend.

In terms of recruiting, though, there’s a lot on the line as well. A win would be a massive feather in UVa’s cap and it would, in the blink of the eye, do a lot of heavy lifting for the program as it continues to build. And with so many in-state recruits headed for Scott Stadium today, the opportunity is clear.

In the class of 2020, the Hoos are expecting to have eight players in attendance today including:

Jahmeer Carter, the 6-foot-3, 294-pound three-star defensive tackle commit from Archbishop Spalding.

Levi Forrest, a 6-foot-6, 175-pound kicker from Richlands.

Jestus Johnson, the 6-foot-3, 300-pound three-star offensive line commit from Gonzaga.

James Pogorelc, a 6-foot-8, 270-pound three-star offensive lineman from Chantilly.

Karon Prunty, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver from Portsmouth who was previously committed to Liberty.

The bulk of the visitors, as has been the case all season, will be juniors. UVa is expecting to have 28 recruits in the class of 2021 in the house today including:

Aaron Armitage, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound four-star Rivals250 defensive end from Blair Academy in New Jersey. Armitage it the No. 106th overall player in his class.

Tristan Bounds, a 6-foot-8, 270-pound three-star offensive lineman from Wallingford (CT)

Delfin Castillo, a 6-foot-5, 340-pound three-star offensive lineman from St. Frances in Baltimore.

Jesiah Davis, a 6-foot-2, 173-pound wide receiver from Charlotte.

Katron Evans, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound four-star Rivals100 defensive tackle from St. Frances. Evans is the No. 94 overall player in 2021.

Malachi Fields, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound dual-threat quarterback from Monticello.

Tony Grimes, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound four-star Rivals100 cornerback from Virginia Beach. He’s No. 22 overall in the 2021 class.

Aaron Hall, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound defensive end from Durham.

Damond Harmon, a 6-foot, 170-pound three-star CB from Highland Springs.

Umari Hatcher, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound three-star receiver from Woodbridge.

Treveyon Henderson, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound three-star RB from Hopewell.

Jamareeh Jones, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound three-star ATH from Highland Springs.

Langston Long, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety from Arden (NC).

Kenjuan Manuel, a 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive tackle from St. John’s College HS in Washington, D.C.

Adonai Mitchell, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound three-star WR from Nashville.

Jordan Moore, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound three-star ATH from Loyola Blakefield in Towson.

Terion Sugick, a 6-foot-2, 287-pound three-star defensive tackle from Fort Washington (MD).

Zakee Wheatley, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound three-star safety from Archbishop Spalding.

Tyleik Williams, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound four-star Rivals250 defensive tackle from Stonewall Jackson. Williams is the No. 211 overall prospect in his class.

George Wilson, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound three-star DE from Green Run.

Jay Woolfolk, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound three-star dual-threat QB from Richmond.

Beyond that group, the Cavaliers are also looking to host nine players in the class of 2022 including:
