Three stats that made a big difference in the defeat of BC

Virginia bettered Boston College in three areas that have not been our strengths. Virginia rushed for a net of 121 yards and a 3.3 average per rush while holding BC to 65 yards and a 2.2 average. We had 3 sacks on defense and gave up just 2 sacks. Perhaps most important was that the Hoos had no turnovers while recovering 2 BC fumbles for 27 yards and forcing 1 interception of 40 yards and 1 touchdown.

Turning the Corner

The win today just feels like a "turn the corner" victory. BC dominated the first half- similar to what we did at BC last year. However, this year the roles were reversed- Hoos shut down BC in the 2nd half and we take 3 TOs for 15 points to secure the win. Second 4th quarter win this season. Coach Elliot is making adjustments but more important has instilled a winning mentality this year. These kids believe and show they have worked hard to develop the stamina to win the 4th quarter.
