Two Hoos on ACC's Players of the Week this week

Malik Washington for wide receiver and James Jackson for linebacker. Congrats to both!

Tony Elliott Presser: UNC Week

On facing UNC's offense and whether they're the best team UVa has faced this year, Elliott said it is the best team they've seen thus far, and they play complimentary football. Their defense looks different than it did last year, and the group is cohesive and plays with energy. They have a better understanding of their scheme which allows them to create turnovers. Elliott said Drake Maye is as good a QB as he's seen, and is the best QB in the country. He always has his composure, and knows the offense well, and he doesn't put the ball in jeopardy much. Defenders are very rarely able to get a clean hit on him and he knows when to slide. And UNC can run the football, too. Omarrion Hampton is a big runner that goes forward, and has almost no negative plays on the season. Elliott said UNC was already good at WR and now Tez Walker is in the equation and he's special. UNC can mix in different personnel groups and challenge a defense with different formations.

More coming.

Take Two: Breaking down the huge win over Carolina

Take Two: @justin ferber looks back at UVa’s improbable and impressive 31-27 win at No. 10 Carolina, grading out the various units following the massive victory in Chapel Hill.

Can't catch a break being a UVA and Washington Fan; when is the last time we had a steady two weekend win in a row

Woke up this morning and was in the mode with a double smile on my face with that fantastic, History making win last night!

Turned on the Washington game and really can't figure out how Rivera, Team make it a point to under perform against a Chicago and now to two slob Coaches on the other side of the field with a losing team like NYGiants.

Howell looked horrible with what 5 sacks and was rattled. Then Rivera took too long to adjust Howell to the 6 men rush coming at him.

The O line; ALL need to be fired! This squad is on pace to have their QB to be sacked 90+ times this year. You had two Moronic O line guys on instant replay blocking an incoming DB, A FREAKIN DB and letting a D line guy and LB run right passed to stuff Howell in the ground.

St. Juste is flat garbage as a cover guy. On a floater pass, he is watching coming toward his man down the sideline and actual stops and speeds up, misjudging the flight and was burned on a 3rd and long, he constantly is targeted and he gets away with PI all the time. Rivera's judgement on him being tall says it all cause St. Juste, Davis and Mayo are all Poor cover guys out in the open field.

This team is poorly coached on Special teams and Secondary. Who runs out of bounds voluntarily to get a stupid penalty?????? Just coaching staff not take care of the small stuff.

My got to go team: Rivera right out of the gate. Our Kicker should be on the seat beside him. Then:
Leno
Charles
Gates,
Wyle
St. Juste
Fuller
Mayo

In fairness, NYGiants got away with all kinds of holding. That late flag, then uncatchable pass thrown to McLaurin was ridiculous because he was being mauled three separate times before the pass was thrown his way and the zebra didn't throw it until Howell had to dump it over McLaurin's head cause he WAS being held.

Then numerous other calls, and it should have been an unsportmanslike conduct flag on the play where Payne was grabbed after blown dead and it was a dirty grab of his leg/throw take down that got him injured and they ran the clock out on that right after that.

We killed ourselves cause that line is beyond pathetic with TONS of false starts that just killed drive after drives. Stupid players voluntarily running out of bounds to get a dumb penalty.

Preview: Hoos head to Chapel Hill to face No. 10 UNC

Preview: The Wahoos come off their bye week and get set to head to Chapel Hill. @BigGriff has our breakdown as UVa and No. 10 North Carolina renew The South’s Oldest Rivalry tomorrow night (6:30 p.m., CW Network).

VT schedule

How does VT get their 2023 FB schedule with no UNC, no Duke and no Miami? All teams in their division. And yet they get Syracuse, BC, Wake, NC State, and Louisville. WTF...just don't understand that scheduling. Basically two tough games all year, FSU and Louisville.

Preseason polls say plenty about where UVa might land

While preseason polls and prognostications aren’t everything, they do tell us plenty about where a team might be in the big picture. @justin ferber takes a look at what they mean for this year’s UVa squad and how things are setting up.

Lots of lineup options for UVa hoops this upcoming season

With hoops season rapidly approaching, @justin ferber takes a look at UVa’s roster and try to gauge the various lineup combinations that Tony Bennett might be inclined to use this year.

Column: Three weeks before the tip, UVa's season is full of intrigue

Column: With three weeks left until it tips off, UVa’s preseason is full of intrigue. If the Wahoos do in fact get “better and better” as Tony Bennett said Saturday, it could be an even more interesting season than expected.
