I haven't had a chance to read through the past few post but just had some thoughts and questions.

First, I wonder what kind of drills if any is JA doing with his right hand.

As far as last nights game, and this is just my opinion, I think with out London we are more athletic and bigger. While LP steadies us on Offense I think the combo of MS and DH is just as good on defense. Not only that, but I think they can score as well. I think one thing with LP, he has the potential to hit consistently from 3 point range.

Here is the thing, we will have some figuring out when JA gets back as far as what his ability will be and how it will gel. At the end of the day, if we continue to play this hard on the defense, we will still continue to dominate.

I think we do have a few concerns getting close to ACC tournament time, but I feel if we just stick to our identity, we will be fine. As I type that, I thought about how we pushed the ball last night and I think if London is in, we slow it down, but MS and DH definitely has the ability to fast break well consistently.

This has been a very weird season to see this team with the loss of Joe and Akil and with the injuries and when you look at the record it's just unbelievable.

Virginia Moves Weekend Home Games to Myrtle Beach
Cavaliers will play three games over the weekend

Virginia will move its upcoming weekend baseball round-robin tournament with Seton Hall and Hartford from UVa's Davenport Field to Myrtle Beach, S.C., because of field conditions from recent inclement weather in Charlottesville. Virginia will play three games at The Ripken Experience over the course of the weekend while adding Cornell to the tournament field.

"With the weather we've had and the forecast for the weekend, it is clear that playing at Davenport Field this weekend once again is not feasible," Virginia head coach Brian O'Connor said. "It's extremely unfortunate, but the only way to play these games is to relocate the series. This has been a challenging and unique start to our season, and we thank our fans for their continued understanding. We are excited about finally playing in front of them at Davenport Field very soon."

Rather than the four games that were originally scheduled for this weekend, Virginia will play one game each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Friday games will be held at Ebbets Field, while the Saturday and Sunday contests will take place at Griffith Field.

The new weekend schedule (home team listed second):
Friday (Feb. 27), 1 p.m. - Hartford vs. Virginia
Friday (Feb. 27), 4 p.m. - Cornell vs. Seton Hall
Saturday (Feb. 28), 11 a.m. - Hartford vs. Cornell
Saturday (Feb. 28), 3 p.m. - Seton Hall vs. Virginia
Saturday (Feb. 28), 7 p.m. - Seton Hall vs. Hartford
Sunday (March 1), 11 a.m. - Cornell vs. Virginia

Live audio will be available online at VirginiaSports.com for each of the Virginia games as part of the Cavaliers Live subscription package. Live statistics (GameTracker) will be available for all six games in the tournament.

What can I say, I'm a slave to my rational side-after the way our offense had struggled since JA went out, the way Wake almost took us out in JPJ, our history at the Joel, the way EVERYONE seemed in a shooting slump, the way all of our recent games have been tight, LP's injury - I just thought a loss was coming soon. If not @Wake, then soon.

Nope, all questions answered.

Sure, we COULD lose one. Sure, not every game will go this smoothly. But I have to tell you folks, without our point guard and best three point shooter/defender/athlete, I did not think this team had that sort of performance in it.

The fact that we're capable of doing what we did tonight in a place that has been our house of horrors for over a decade ... and doing it with role players and bench guys doing the heavy lifting ... is incredibly impressive. What I saw tonight completely shifted the paradigm of what I believe about this team without JA.

When JA got hurt, I didn't think we'd miss a beat. Then I watched four games without him and I got concerned. Now after tonight, I'm ready to stop riding the roller coaster. My first instinct was right.

Remember a couple of guys discussing this guy the other day. In case you missed it, he had 30 points last night...... Including 26 consecutive points without missing a shot...... Overall he was 8/10.....in the final 4:38 of the game. Overall, he was 10/19, 6/11 on 3's, and 9/11 from the line. But talk about streaky. He missed his first five threes, hit his last 6. He was 2 for 9, before hiring 8 of 10. He had 5 points in 15 minutes and 22 see seconds before his end of game heroics. Oh, BTW, Angel Rodriguez had 25 for Miami and they won 81-77.

UVA was completely dominant tonight. So I'll keep this short...

Wake had more turnovers tonight (13) than they did field goals (12).

8 steals and 8 blocks tonight. Those are Kentucky numbers. Not stats you would expect from a pack line team.

Devin Thomas, who has averaged a very respectable 13 a game this year, has been held to one (1) field goal against us this season.


We're all really impressed, but there were a couple areas for improvement. Our passing was below average tonight. Bennett will have something to say about the 11 TOs tonight. Even those passes which connected didn't have the "crispness" and "on target accuracy" with which we've become accustomed.

Our assist numbers weren't particularly impressive tonight, though that is to be expected when your starting PG goes down. I'll chalk that one up to the first game without LP.


Two miscellaneous thoughts. Bennett is usually a guy who doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeve. They caught him on camera when Frazier scored, and I've never seen him so happy/proud. "Scrubs" is usually meant as an insult. I (and I bet TB does too) view them as guys who work their tail off every single practice to make the team better, all the while knowing they're not going to get any recognition for it. I respect the hell out of them for it.

Lastly, is there some "secret memo" that the ACC sent to the officials telling them to not call crap on the inside? Our guys were getting HAMMERED all night in the lane. All I'm asking for is some consistency. You can't let a hockey brawl erupt on the inside and still call "touch" fouls on the perimeter.

Was reading BF/JRs preview and realized Mitoglou was a Freshman which got me thinking about what the ACC looks like next year and it's absolutely brutal top to near bottom.


At the top of the league:
UVA - As good or better, depends a lot on JA
Duke - Will lose Okafor and maybe one other but brings in #4 class
UNC - Loses no one, I see no obvious candidates to leave early either
Louisville - Losing Blackshear hurts, losing Harrell early would hurt more, brings in #5 class
ND - Falls badly - Grant and Connaughton are both big losses


Middle:
Syracuse - Christmas is a big loss but #6 recruiting class gets them back to actual depth, they are assumed to be much improved
Pitt - Loses Wright who plays 27 min a game, expect them to be as good or better
NCSU - Loses Turner - bigger loss than Pitt but more talent in the cupboard than Pitt
Miami - Loses no one
Clemson - Loses two starters, probable regression because of rest of the league
FSU - Loses no one, brings in #9 class


Bottom:
Wake - Loses no one, brings in #21 class, 2nd year of Manning's system
GT - Graduates 3 big contributors and Gregory is getting fired
VT - Loses no one, #27 class plus Seth Allen, 2nd year of Buzz's system
BC - Graduates several, brings in no one, will still suck



With the exception of ND, Clemson, GT, and BC you can make an argument that the rest of the league is as good or better than they were this year. In particular, FSU, Wake, and VT are all going to be much much better next year than they were this year. We picked a great time to hit our stride with TB, winning in this league is an incredible accomplishment.

It seems to me that the only place that Tony has not been able to recruit well is a dynamic scoring guard who can hit the three not just as a stand still shooter but also creating his own shot off the dribble. MB can do it in streaks but when his shot gets flat like it is now, which has always been a problem for him, we struggle to find that scorer. LP simply does not seek out his shot that much and he is also a little inconsistent with it. That said we may have one on the way in Guy who seems to fit that description from the videos I have seen. Jerome shots it well also but seems more of a spot up shooter. Any thoughts?
